Gold and silver miners gained after gold advanced to a record and silver hit a 30-year high in New York.
Gold Fields La Cima SA (LACIMAI1 PE), a unit of Gold Fields Ltd., rose 3.6 percent to 3.20 soles. Cia. de Minas Buenaventura SAA (BVN PE), the country’s biggest precious-metals miner, rose 0.9 percent to $53.37. Cia. Minera Atacocha SA (ATACOBC1 PE), the Lima-based silver and zinc miner, rose for a fifth session, adding 2.9 percent to 1.44 soles.
Copper miners advanced after futures rose to a three-week high in New York, said SAB Inteligo analyst Daniel Mori.
Southern Copper Corp. (SCCO PE), Peru’s biggest copper producer, gained for a fourth session, adding 2 percent to $45. Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde SA (CVERDEC1 PE), a unit of Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc., rose 1.4 percent to $44.50. Soc. Minera El Brocal SAA (BROCALC1 PE), a silver and zinc producer, rose for a seventh day, adding 0.9 percent to 55.50 soles, a three-year high, after announcing plans to quadruple ore processing capacity at the mine to 4,000 metric tons of copper per day.
