Oxford Names Harvard's Tufano as Dean of Business School to Succeed Mayer

The University of Oxford said Peter Tufano of Harvard University’s Business School will be the next dean of its Said Business School.

Tufano, 53, will succeed Colin Mayer, the current dean, on July 1, the university said in an e-mailed statement today. Tufano is the Sylvan C. Coleman professor of financial management at HBS, having previously been senior associate dean for planning and university affairs, director of faculty development and head of the finance unit, according to its website.

Tufano, also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, researches mutual funds, consumer finance and corporate financial engineering.

“Peter has an outstanding academic reputation and a strong record of forging collaborations within a world-class university and beyond,” said Andrew Hamilton, Oxford’s vice chancellor, in the statement. “These achievements, combined with his impressive teaching experience and commitment to use rigorous business research to improve business and regulatory practice, make him the ideal person to lead the school.”
