Kenyan Police Arrest 346 Foreigners in Nairobi, Nation Reports
Kenyan police arrested 346 foreigners in the capital, Nairobi, in a crackdown on people suspected to have entered the East African nation illegally, the Daily Nation said, citing Provincial Police Officer Anthony Kibuchi.
Police conducted the sweep over about three hours late yesterday in the suburbs of Pangani, South C and Eastleigh, neighborhoods where many migrants from the region settle and do business, the Nairobi-based newspaper reported today.
Police cordoned off streets and searched homes, detaining those who were unable to present their national identification documents or passports, the newspaper reported.
Kenyan police spokesman Eric Kiraithe didn’t answer his mobile phone when called for comment.
