Ireland May Cut House Sales Tax, Welfare Payments, Post Reports

Ireland may cut the tax on house sales for a 12-month trial period, more than halve a 10 euro ($13.40) airport tax and raise 700 million euros from selling assets, the Sunday Business Post reported.

Social welfare payments may also be cut by as much as 5 percent to trim the 20 billion-euro social welfare bill in a budget to be presented on Dec. 7, the Dublin-based newspaper reported, without saying where it got the information.
