Germany Christmas Shopping ‘Better’ Than Last Year, HDE Says

Christmas shopping in Germany is developing “clearly better than last year,” Stefan Genth, head of Germany’s HDE retail association, said in a statement today.

While winter weather hindered shoppers, it also meant demand was high for scarves, hats, gloves and winter sports gear. Sweets, books and perfumery articles are in high demand, and shoppers are also seeking smartphones, tablet computers and portable game consoles, the statement said.
