German Poll Puts Merkel’s Christian Democrats at Six-Month High
Support for German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic-led bloc rose one percentage point to 34 percent, the third straight gain to the highest level since May, Bild am Sonntag said, citing a poll it conducted.
The Free Democrats, Merkel’s coalition partner, declined one point to 5 percent, while support for the opposition Social Democrats remained at 24 percent, and the Greens lost one point to 20 percent, the newspaper cited the poll as showing.
The anti-capitalist Left Party rose one point to 10 percent. The Emnid survey polled 3,271 people from Nov. 25 to Dec. 1. No margin of error was provided.
