Jindal Power Ltd. said a committee set up by the environment ministry had approved the expansion of its coal-power plant in India’s Chhattisgarh state.
The ministry had revoked clearance for the 134 billion rupee ($3 billion) expansion in June, according to a statement. The New Delhi-based company has a 1,000-megawatt plant operational at the site that is in Raigarh district.
The subsidiary of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. plans to expand capacity by 2,400 megawatts, it said in the statement.
