France ‘Well Protected’ Against Leaks, Alliot-Marie Tells Monde
France is “well protected” against leaking of confidential government documents, Foreign Affairs Minister Michèle Alliot-Marie said, according to an interview with Le Monde.
The publication of confidential U.S. diplomatic cables by WikiLeaks is “totally irresponsible” and “a violation of sovereignty” that could harm international relations, the minister said, Le Monde reported.
While the U.S. and Europe should work together out of common interest, “we shouldn’t ignore either that we compete in the economic area, in the technology area,” Alliot-Marie said, according to the newspaper.
