President Barack Obama will make remarks on the economy during a visit to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on Dec. 6, the White House announced.
Obama plans a visit to Forsyth Technical Community College, where he will tour two biotech classrooms, greet students and deliver remarks on the economy to students, faculty and local business leaders, the White House said in a statement.
The Labor Department reported earlier today that employers added 39,000 jobs in November, far fewer than the 150,000 expected by economists, while the unemployment rate rose to 9.8 percent from 9.6 percent in October.
The White House and Congress are locked in negotiations over whether and for how long to extend Bush-era tax cuts that are due to expire at the end of the month.
