Hong Kong Pollution ‘Very High’ at Roadside Stations
Hong Kong’s Environmental Protection Department reported “very high” air pollution in the Central district for the fourth straight day.
The Air Pollution Index was 153 in Central, 126 in Causeway Bay and 103 in Mong Kok as of 9 a.m., the department said on its website.
Readings above 100 are classified “very high” and trigger a government warning for people with heart or respiratory ailments to avoid prolonged stays in heavy traffic areas.
Figures from Causeway Bay were unavailable earlier today due to a “technical malfunction at the monitoring station,” Yau Fai Chau, information officer, said.
