German Lawmakers Agree on Tax-Simplification Package, Bild Says
Lawmakers in Chancellor Angela Merkel’s coalition have reached an agreement on a tax- simplification package that will reduces taxes by 590 million euros ($782 million), Bild Zeitung reported.
Finance lawmakers in Merkel’s Christian Democratic-led bloc and the Free Democratic Party agreed to 41 measures to simplify the tax code, the newspaper said. They include items such as allowing taxpayers to file returns every other year and easing reporting on children, Bild said.
Tax simplification measures will be among the topics discussed at a Dec. 9 meeting of coalition leaders hosted by Merkel, government spokesman Steffen Seibert told reporters in Berlin today.
