Elaine Kaufman, Owner of Namesake New York City Restaurant, Dies at Age 81

Elaine Kaufman, whose Elaine’s Restaurant became a meeting place for top New York authors, journalists, police and celebrities, died today, the New York Post said, citing spokesman Cindy Carway. She was 81, the Post said.
