Mauritania Plans Phosphate Mine, Awards Exploration Rights

Mauritania awarded a license to establish a phosphate mine to Bofal Indo Mining Co., Agence Mauritanienne d’Information reported.

The mine, in the southwest Bofal-Loubeira area, will include a phosphoric-acid processing plant to be constructed within three years, the state-owned agency, based in Nouakchott said today, citing a statement from the Council of Ministers.

Piedras Ornamentales Hergha SL was awarded two gold exploration licenses in the East Mounguel and Ould Rami areas, the agency said. An iron-ore exploration deal was given to Elite Earth Minerals and Metals in Lekcheiouatt, while Curve Capital Ventures Ltd. got iron-ore permits in Louted and Akjoujt areas.
