Kissinger, Powell Urge Congress to Ratify START, Wash. Post Says

Henry Kissinger, Colin Powell and three other Republican former U.S. secretaries of state urged Republicans to vote to ratify the new arms control treaty with Russia, saying it was “in the national interest.”

Writing in the Washington Post, the men wrote that decades of treaties have helped “reduce the risk of nuclear catastrophe,” as would the new START agreement. Also writing were George Schultz, James A. Baker III and Lawrence Eagleburger.
