Israeli Officials Dismiss Haniyeh Comment on Accord, JPost Says

Israeli officials dismissed a statement by Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh yesterday that he would be willing to accept a peace treaty with Israel if it was approved by a Palestinian referendum, the Jerusalem Post reported.

Haniyeh’s comments, made yesterday to reporters in the Gaza Strip, were not new and did not indicate a willingness to accept Israel in the long-term, an unidentified Israeli official told the Post.
