Ethiopia’s Three-Month Tax Revenue Leaps 151%, ENA Reports

Ethiopia’s revenue collection leaped 151 percent in the three months since July 7 from the year- earlier period, the state-owned Ethiopian News Agency said.

Tax receipts of 11 billion Ethiopian birr ($664 million) were 92 percent of the target for the period, Addis Ababa-based ENA reported, citing Revenue and Customs Authority Director General Melaku Fanta.

Improved revenue collection was highlighted by the International Monetary Fund in a November statement after reviewing Ethiopia’s macroeconomic performance.
