Croatian Support for EU Entry Grows 12% since June, To 64%
In a poll commissioned by the Foreign Ministry, 1,000 citizens were asked if and how they would vote on a referendum to join the bloc. Of the 76 percent who said they would vote on a referendum, 64 percent would cast a positive vote, up from 62 percent in October.
Croatia is in the final stage of talks to become the 28th member of the bloc. It hopes to sign the accession treaty by mid-2011 and join the EU in 2012. The government said the referendum on joining the bloc would be held after the accession treaty is signed.
