India's Telecom Regulator Tightens Rules on Sales Calls, Text Messages

India’s telecommunications regulator today issued rules to regulate unsolicited sales calls and text messages, according to a notification on the website of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.

Telemarketers who violate these rules may be fined as much as 250,000 rupees, the notification said.
