El Paso 24-Inch Natural Gas Pipeline Ruptures in Louisiana

A 24-inch El Paso Corp. natural gas pipeline ruptured yesterday in Natchitoches Parish in Louisiana, according to a statement on the parish sheriff’s website.

Residents within a mile radius of the leak were evacuated, according to the statement. Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co., a subsidiary of El Paso that operates the pipeline, was working to shut off the line yesterday afternoon, according to the statement.

Richard Wheatley, a spokesman for Houston-based El Paso, didn’t immediately return a phone message seeking additional information.
