Chevron Phillips Begins Maintenance at Texas Chemical Plant
Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. LLC started maintenance on an ethylene unit at its Cedar Bayou chemical plant in Baytown, Texas, according to a filing with state regulators.
“The unit will be partially shut down and depressured to complete necessary repairs,” the Woodlands, Texas-based company said in a filing yesterday with the Commission on Environmental Quality.
The company is a joint venture of Chevron Corp. and ConocoPhillips. The Cedar Bayou plant is located about 32 miles (51 kilometers) east of Houston.
Ethylene crackers process natural gas liquids or naphtha into basic petrochemicals used in plastics.
