Burgenländische Elektrizitätswirtschafts AG plans to expand its Croatian telecommunications provider B-net into the “biggest alternative national operator,” Poslovni reported, citing Christian Kurz, head of telecommunications at the Austrian company.
B-net, which offers TV, Internet and fixed-line services in Croatia, today took over the operations of the Zagreb-based Totalna Televizija, Poslovni said. The unit, part of regional satellite platform Total TV, was previously owned by British private equity fund Mid Europa Partners.
Kurz said B-net is planning acquisitions of other alternative operators in Croatia, Poslovni reported. B-net provides services to about 264,000 households in six Croatian cities, according to Poslovni. Its main rival is the national telecommunications operator Hrvatski Telekom d.d.
