Bolivia’s Morales Denies WikiLeaks Cable Over Tumor, Erbol Says

Bolivian President Evo Morales denied a report in a diplomatic cable published by WikiLeaks that he suffers from a sinus tumor, Erbol radio reported citing Morales’ spokesman Ivan Canelas.

The U.S. Embassy in Brazil communicated via confidential cable in January of 2009 that Brazilian Defense Minister Nelson Jobim confirmed the Bolivian leader had a serious sinus tumor, according to cables published by WikiLeaks.

Canelas said that a group of Cuban doctors performed surgery on Morales for problems with his septum, Erbol reported. He said the president did not suffer from any more serious medical problems.
