Six U.S. Troops in Afghanistan Killed by Gunman Posing as a Police Officer

Six U.S. military personnel were killed by a gunman dressed in an Afghan Border Police uniform, a Pentagon spokesman, Colonel David Lapan, told reporters today.

The Defense Department doesn’t have further details, Lapan said. “We are in the next-of-kin notifications,” he said.

The gunman was killed by coalition forces, according to a NATO press release. The killings took place during a training mission today in eastern Afghanistan.
