Croatian Economy Expands Annually for First Time Since 2008
Croatia’s economy expanded 0.2 percent in the third quarter from the same period in 2009, the first growth since the final three months of 2008, the statistics office in Zagreb said today in a flash estimate.
The Adriatic Sea nation, which hopes to become the next European Union member in 2012, launched in April an economic recovery program and expects a 1.5 percent growth next year.
“The positive growth in the third quarter is mostly due to a good tourist season, but it’s questionable whether this trend will continue,” said Zdeslav Santic, chief analyst for the Soc- Gen Splitska Banka d.d., before the release.
