Mexico’s Calderon Names Guzman to Head Promexico
Mexican President Felipe Calderon appointed today Carlos Guzman as the head of the country’s investment promotion authority, known as Promexico.
Calderon made the announcement at an event in Mexico City.
Guzman, a chemical engineer and former chairman and chief executive officer of Hewlett-Packard Mexico, will have the task of attracting foreign investments as well as promoting Mexican products abroad, Calderon said.
“Promexico must sell, it has to act as a sales organization, and its product is Mexico,” Guzman said at the event.
Since its creation two years ago, Promexico has attracted 100 foreign direct investment projects representing $16 billion, Calderon said.
