Calcasieu Plans Work on Process Heater at Lake Charles

Calcasieu Refining Co. plans to start work Nov. 29 on burners in a process heater at its Lake Charles, Louisiana, refinery, according to a filing with the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality.

The Lake Charles-based company plans to replace the tips on nine burners in a process heater, according to the permit filed with the state. The work was expected to start Nov. 29 and operations to commence on Dec. 6, the filing showed.

“New burners will provide for increased firing capacity of the process heater and subsequently increased production from the No. 5 crude unit,” according to the permit.

The Lake Charles refinery can process 80,000 barrels of oil a day, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
