Inter Milan Striker Samuel Eto'o Banned for Three Matches After Headbutt

Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto’o was banned for three matches after headbutting a Chievo defender in a Nov. 21 Serie A match, his club said in a statement on its website.

Inter said it will appeal the decision by the Italian sports judge, who reviewed films of the match won by Chievo 2-1. Eto’o also was fined 30,000 euros ($40,700) for the headbutt on Chievo’s Bostjan Cesar.

Defending champion Inter is in sixth place in soccer’s Serie A, nine points behind leader AC Milan.
