Scottish Widows Hires McKernan as Head of European, U.K. Credit

Scottish Widows Investment Partnership appointed Daniel McKernan as head of European and U.K. credit within its fixed-income team.

McKernan, who will be based in Edinburgh, will report to Neil Murray, global head of credit, according to a statement today. McKernan, who will start on Feb. 1, 2011, has over 20 years of investment management experience and will be responsible for managing the investment-grade credit research and institutional-investment management teams. He joins SWIP after five years at BlackRock Inc., where he was director of fixed income and a senior credit portfolio manager.

“Daniel will have a key role to play as we continue to deliver our ambitious plans for growth in our fixed income business,” Mark Connolly, director of fixed income at SWIP, wrote.

The fixed-income team at Scottish Widows, which is part of Lloyds Banking Group Plc, oversees more than 68 billion pounds ($109 billion) in fixed income and cash assets.
