Sri Lanka’s Spending Will Boost Rural Growth, Rajapaksa Says

Sri Lanka’s public spending to build roads, ports and power plans will help spur growth in the island’s rural areas, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said at the swearing-in ceremony of his second term in the capital Colombo today.

The government plans to provide electricity to its entire population by 2012, he said.
