Sebastien Galy Leaves BNP Paribas as Senior Currency Strategist

Sebastien Galy has left BNP Paribas, the world’s biggest bank by assets, where he was a New York- based senior currency strategist, the company confirmed.

Edwina Frawley-Gangahar, head of BNP external communications in New York, said she could not confirm where Galy is headed. He did not return calls seeking comment.

BNP Paribas hired Galy for its foreign-exchange research unit in August 2008. He reported to Hans-Guenter Redeker, global head of foreign exchange strategy in London.

Galy joined the bank from Dresdner Kleinwort Ltd. in London, where he was a senior currency strategist. Earlier he was at UBS AG and worked at the Bank for International Settlements and as an analyst for the International Monetary Fund in Cameroon.

Galy earned a doctorate from John Molson School of Business at Concordia University in Montreal and master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Universite Laval in Quebec City.
