St. Regis Opens Tibet's First International Luxury Hotel, Xinhua Reports

The St. Regis Lhasa Resort, the first international luxury hotel in Tibet, opened yesterday, Xinhua News Agency said, citing Phil McAveety, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc.’s chief brand official.

The 32,000-square-meter hotel uses solar and geothermal energy to reduce its dependence on diesel energy, the news agency said. Shangri-La and InterContinental brand hotels will be built in Lhasa this year, Xinhua said.
