Nordic Stocks: Medivir, Mekonomen, Telenor, Torm, Vestas Wind

The Stoxx Nordic 30 Index, the benchmark measure for the region, rose 0.3 percent to 7,010.14 at the 5:30 p.m. close in Stockholm, paring four days of losses.

The OMX Stockholm 30 Index climbed 0.2 percent, while Norway’s OBX Index rose 1.1 percent. The OMX Helsinki 25 Index increased 0.6 percent and Denmark’s Copenhagen 20 Index advanced 0.1 percent.

The following companies’ shares were among the most active in Nordic markets today. Symbols are in parentheses.

Medivir AB (MVIRB SS) rose 4 percent to 129 kronor, the highest price in three weeks. The Swedish biotechnology company’s experimental hepatitis C treatment that it’s developing with Tibotec Pharmaceuticals eliminated the virus in more than three out of four patients.

Mekonomen AB (MEKO SS) jumped 4.8 percent to 220 kronor, its second day of gains. The Swedish owner of car-parts and accessories stores said third-quarter net income rose to 100 million kronor ($14.9 million) from 70 million kronor a year earlier.

Telenor ASA (TEL NO) climbed 2.9 percent to 97.20 kroner, its third straight increase. The Norwegian phone company was raised to “overweight” from “equal weight” at Barclays Plc.

Torm A/S (TORM DC) slipped 3.9 percent to 38.75 kroner, its third straight decline. Europe’s biggest jet fuel and gasoline shipping line said it will lose $16 million selling two new dry bulk boats, Torm Karen and Torm Kate.

Vestas Wind Systems A/S (VWS DC) slipped 2 percent to 167.60 kroner, its sixth loss in seven days. The world’s largest maker of wind turbines was cut to “sell” from “hold” at Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale.
