Octopus Holdings Appoints John Strickland as Chairman as Leong Retires

Octopus Holdings Ltd. has apppointed John Strickland as non-executive chairman effective Jan. 1, replacing the retiring Lincoln Leong, the company said in a press release on its website yesterday.

U.K.-born Strickland, 70, is a former chairman of HSBC Plc’s Asian unit Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corp. and is the current chairman of the Hong Kong Internet Registration Corp. and the Hong Kong Domain Name Registration Co. He’s also a non- executive director on the boards of Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Ltd, IDS Group Ltd, and Esquel Holdings Inc.

Leong has been Octopus chairman for more than nine years, according to the statement.
