China's Economic Growth May `Surprise on the Upside,' Barclays' Jian Says

China’s third-quarter economic growth may “surprise on the upside,” with gross domestic product rising 9.7 percent from year-ago levels, according to Barclays Plc.

The nation’s inflation rate may have surged to 3.8 percent last month on higher food prices, Jian Chang, economist at Barclays, wrote in a note to clients. The data is scheduled to be released this week.
