Exxon Reports Oil Leak From Tank at Baytown Refinery

Exxon Mobil Corp. reported a crude oil spill yesterday at its Baytown, Texas, refinery in a filing with state regulators.

A leak at the tank mixer seal led to the spill, according to the filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The mixer seal was isolated and absorbents were applied to the spilled liquid, the filing showed. The incident lasted from about 3:30 p.m. local time to 3:45 p.m. yesterday.

“There was no impact to refinery operations,” said Neely Nelson, a spokeswoman for Exxon.

The plant can process 572,500 barrels of crude a day, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
