Benelux Stocks: ArcelorMittal, ASML, TiGenix, Mediq Are Active

The Amsterdam Exchanges Index rose 0.7, or 0.2 percent, to 337.67 at the 5:30 p.m. close, rising for a third consecutive day. Belgium’s Bel20 Index declined 0.4 percent to 2,604.03.

The following were among the most active stocks in the Benelux markets today. Symbols are in parentheses.

Dutch stocks:

ArcelorMittal SA (MT NA) climbed 1.1 percent to 24.43 euros, its third consecutive increase. The world’s biggest steelmaker said it had an antitrust fine cut by around 50 million euros ($69.8 million) after the European Union corrected a mistake in the way it penalized companies for a cartel in pre- stressing steel.

ASML Holding NV (ASML NA) declined 0.9 percent to 21.25 euros, a third day of losses. Europe’s biggest semiconductor equipment maker was rated “underweight” in assumed coverage at Morgan Stanley.

Mediq NV (MEDIQ NA) gained 4.4 percent to 13.20 euros, the biggest increase since May, after Rabo Securities upgraded the largest Dutch pharmacy chain to “buy” from “hold.”

Belgian stocks:

TiGenix NV (TIG BB) surged 41 percent to 2.31 euros, the biggest jump in almost two years. The Belgian developer of treatments for damaged joints said it signed the first distribution agreements for its ChondroMimetic treatment for small osteochondral lesions in Europe and will begin initial shipments in the coming weeks.
