JFE Says Global Steel Output May Peak in Five Years, Financial Times Says

Worldwide steel production may plateau over the next five years, Eiji Hayashida, the head of JFE Holdings Inc.’s JFE Steel unit, told the Financial Times in an interview.

The company forecasts global steel output will reach between 1.5 billion and 1.6 billion tons a year by the middle of the coming decade and then stay around the same level for five to 10 years, the FT reported.
