Triple Plate More Than Doubles on Newmont Venture
Triple Plate Junction Plc, which mines for gold in Southeast Asia, was the biggest gainer in the 848-company FTSE AIM All-Share Index after its partner Newmont Mining Corp. committed to the next phase of a project in Papua New Guinea.
Triple Plate rose 3.73 pence, or 171 percent, to 5.9 pence in London trading by the 4:30 p.m. close.
NVL PNG Ltd., a unit of Newmont, has decided to proceed to the second phase of the Morobe Gold project, whose licenses cover an area of more than 3,700 square kilometers (1,430 square miles), Triple Plate said today in a statement.
