New South Wales State Approves A$785 Million Mount Arthur Coal Expansion

The government of New South Wales state approved a $A785 million expansion to the Mount Arthur Coal mine in the Hunter Valley region north of sydney.
The project will expand the mine’s output to 36 million metric tons a year for a period of 12 years, from 28 million tons a year, the government said today in a statement. Melbourne-based BHP Billiton Ltd., the world’s largest mining company, lists Mount Arthur as one of its operations on the company’s website.
