South Africa Aiming to Remove Structural Growth Restraints, Minister Says

South African Economic Development Minister Ebrahim Patel said growth in Africa’s largest economy is being restrained by structural issues, such as a shortage of skills and lack of competition.

The country’s “new growth path” aims to address impediments to its expansion, Patel told business people at a function before the start of the third day of the ruling African National Congress’ National General Council today.
