Bekaert NV (BEKB BB) gained 0.4 percent to 182.05 euros, a record high and the biggest gain since Sept. 10. The world’s biggest maker of steel cord used in tires agreed to buy 75 percent of the spring wire and overhead conductor business of Xinyu Iron & Steel Co. in China for 161.2 million yuan ($24.06 million).
Dexia SA (DEXB BB) added 0.7 percent to 3.25 euros, after being suspended yesterday. Dexia Bank Belgium was acquitted by the Ghent appeals court in Belgium’s biggest case of corporate fraud. The co-founders of Lernaut & Hauspie Speech Products NV Jo Lernout and Pol Hauspie were sentenced to as many as five years in prison for artificially inflating revenue.
D’Ieteren SA (DIE BB) gained 3.6 percent to 408.05 euros, the highest level since Jan. 3. Exane BNP Paribas initiated coverage of the owner of the world’s largest vehicle-glass repair company with an “outperform” recommendation.
SBM Offshore NV (SBMO NA) rose 1.5 percent to 13.52 euros, gaining for a second day. The world’s largest supplier of floating oil rigs had its price estimate raised to 14 euros from 13.50 euros at ING Groep NV.
