Yvo De Boer Joins Carbon Markets & Investors Association Board
Yvo de Boer, former United Nations climate chief, was named to the board of the Carbon Markets & Investors Association, a lobby group for traders.
Also joining the board are Anthony Hobley, head of the climate-change practice at Norton Rose in Sydney, head of carbon trading at Geoff Sinclair of Standard Bank, Matthew Whittell of Climate Exchange Plc, and Mike Bess of Camco International Ltd. De Boer, an adviser to KPMG International, will replace colleague Sandy Nicolson on the board.
“With momentum towards carbon pricing seemingly stalled in many parts of the world, the new CMIA board faces many challenges over the coming months,” said Abyd Karmali, the global head of carbon markets at Bank of America Merrill Lynch who was re-elected president of the CMIA board.
“At a time of reduced public funds and austerity measures being taken by governments in the major economies, the imperative has never been stronger for policymakers to introduce market-friendly policies that can succeed in leveraging private funding to address climate change.”
