Spain’s Jose Manuel Lara won golf’s Austrian Open today following a playoff with David Lynn of England, taking his second European Tour title.
The 33-year-old secured his victory on the first extra hole after both players finished on 17-under-par 271 at Atzenbrugg. Lara came into contention with a final-round 64.
Lara, whose previous European Tour win was at the Hong Kong Open in November 2006, collects a check for 125,000 euros ($163,200). He had missed the cut in nine straight events before finishing fourth at last week’s KLM Open.
Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell, Sweden’s Alexander Noren and Danny Willett of England shared third spot, three shots behind the top pair.
