HSBC May Name Simon Robertson Interim Chairman, Then Thornton, Times Says

HSBC Holdings Plc may appoint Simon Robertson, chairman of Rolls-Royce Group Plc, as a temporary successor to Chairman Stephen Green, Sunday Times reported, without saying where it got the information.

HSBC is considering Robertson, currently senior independent director at the bank, following discussions at investor meetings, the Sunday Times reported. Robertson would serve for two to three years as the bank grooms John Thornton, chairman of HSBC’s North American division, or Chief Executive Officer Michael Geoghegan for the chairman’s role, the newspaper added.
