Viviane Reding, the European Union’s Justice Commissioner, is considering introducing quotas requiring companies to hire more women as top managers, Die Welt reported, citing an interview.
Unless the percentage of women executive increases, the European Union may have to introduce quotas by law, Reding said, according to a preview of an article to be published today.
The target should be that by 2015 at least 30 percent of all supervisory board members should be women, and 40 percent by 2020, Die Welt cited the commissioner as saying.
