Pimco Offers Two New Bond Funds to U.K. Retail Investors as Demand Grows

Pacific Investment Management Co., manager of the world’s largest bond fund, is making a range of funds available to U.K. retail investors for the first time as it seeks to exploit growing demand for fixed-income products.

Pimco is offering British retail investors the chance to invest its Global Bond Fund, managed by Scott Mather, and the U.K. Corporate Bond Fund, run by Luke Spajic, according to a statement from the Newport Beach, California-based company.

“The insurance and unit-linked markets are the largest and fastest-growing segments of the pooled funds market in the U.K.,” Joe McDevitt, head of Pimco’s U.K. business, said in the statement. “The launch of Pimco Select marks an important development for us in extending our investment-management expertise directly to the U.K. retail sector.”
