Mets Pitcher Johan Santana Out for Year to Undergo Left Shoulder Surgery

New York Mets pitcher Johan Santana will undergo surgery to repair a tear in his pitching shoulder. The left-hander will be able to resume throwing in the spring, the team said in an e-mailed press release.
