Metallurgical Corp. Registers Bond Plans, Comments on Cape Lambert Dispute

Metallurgical Corp. of China registered plans to sell as much as 14.9 billion yuan of medium- term notes and 14.4 billion yuan of short-term bills, the company said in a Hong Kong stock exchange filing today.

In a separate statement, the company said it hadn’t yet paid a final A$80 million to Cape Lambert Resources Ltd. for mining assets in Western Australia because in its view the vendor hadn’t yet fulfilled all its obligations.

Cape Lambert said earlier that it had commenced legal action to recover the money.
