Gulf Subsidies Threaten European Airlines, Lufthansa CEO Mayrhuber Says

Aviation subsidies in the Persian Gulf region constitute a risk for European airlines, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported, citing Lufthansa AG Chief Executive Officer Wolfgang Mayrhuber.

Government-owned Emirates Airlines, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways use oil income to subsidize transporting passengers through their regional hubs, Mayrhuber added in an interview with the newspaper.
