Fidel Castro Says Remark on Cuban Economy Was Misinterpreted, AP Reports

Former Cuban President Fidel Castro said his comment on Cuba’s economic model to a U.S. journalist was misinterpreted, the Associated Press reported.

Castro, speaking at the University of Havana, said he meant “exactly the opposite” of how the remark was understood by Jeffrey Goldberg, a correspondent for The Atlantic magazine, the AP said.

Goldberg wrote on his blog this week that Castro told him during a meeting that “The Cuban model doesn’t even work for us anymore.”
